This site features good books that speak to the Midwestern heart & soul.

We feature books from a broad sweep of the American heartland: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Our initial focus is on fiction, but we’ll include nonfiction that reflects a Midwestern ethos.

We also feature author interviews. We hope you’ll visit the Midwest Books & Authors site often to meet some outstanding regional authors and become acquainted with some of their favorite works.

The site is directed by Philip Martin, Director of Great Lakes Literary and also of Crickhollow Books and Crispin Books, two affiliated imprint for fiction and nonfiction.

While this site will cover some books and authors from the Crickhollow and Crispin programs, it will include an equal or greater number of worthy books from other sources. This is less a marketing venture than a reflection of a long-time commitment to encourage a greater readership of books about Midwestern topics. We do hope you’ll consider reading any of the books featured on this site.
